The Wood-Mizer: Timber to Treasure I almost bough The Wood-Mizer: Timber to Treasure

I almost bought one of these.

We had about 150 acres of woods, and I always thought a Wood-Mizer would have been pretty cool to have.

Here's why.

You can start with an old log that doesn't look particularly remarkable.

Put it on the sawmill.

Set your cut.

Run the blade through it.

And suddenly...

You've got lumber.

This Wood-Mizer appears to be cutting boards about an inch thick, and it moves through that log surprisingly fast.

But my favorite part is seeing what's hiding inside.

The grain.

The colors.

The character of the wood.

Depending on the species, quality, dimensions, and market, turning a valuable log into usable lumber can potentially add considerable value.

And then that lumber can become furniture, cabinets, flooring, or something somebody keeps for generations.

You start with an old log.

You finish with something beautiful.

Timber to treasure.

Pretty cool.

Ever wonder what a log looks like when you cut it Ever wonder what a log looks like when you cut it into lumber?

I'm at the tractor show watching a Wood-Mizer sawmill do exactly that.

This is eastern cedar.

When the board first comes off, it's rough and covered in sawdust.

But brush some of that sawdust away...

And look at that wood.

Beautiful reds.

Some of it almost looks purple.

It's pretty freaking cool.

You can look at the outside of a log and have absolutely no idea what's hiding underneath that bark.

Then the saw passes through it and suddenly you've got a beautiful piece of lumber staring back at you.

That's one of my favorite things about coming to shows like this.

Don't just show me the machinery.

Fire it up and show me what it can DO. 😂

From a log to usable lumber right in front of you.

Good stuff.

Low-Key Antique Tractor This is low-key tractor. I Low-Key Antique Tractor
This is low-key tractor. I've never seen one of these before. I don't even know whose it is. It's got a wheel on there, you connect it to anything. Pretty crazy.
Montgomery County Antique Tractor Show I'm still Montgomery County Antique Tractor Show

I'm still wandering around the antique tractor show here in Montgomery County, Tennessee.

Some newer ones.

Some seriously old ones.

And I'll tell you what:

I love the old stuff.

Heavy metal.

Simple mechanics.

Built to work.

Built to be repaired.

And in my opinion, some of these old tractors will still be running long after a lot of the modern stuff is gone.

I'm the same way with old cars and trucks.

Give me something from the era when you could open the hood, figure out what was wrong, fix the damn thing, and keep going.

Then we come across one of the big boys. 😂

That's what makes these shows fun.

You never know what you're going to find around the next corner.

Randy's Best of Show Deutz Tractor I'm at the ant Randy's Best of Show Deutz Tractor

I'm at the antique tractor show in Montgomery County, Tennessee, and this is Randy.

More importantly, this is Randy's Best of Show tractor. 😂

It's a 1966 German-made Deutz with a two-cylinder, air-cooled diesel engine.

This thing is seriously cool.

No spark plugs.

Air and fuel.

Heavy-duty mechanical engineering.

And you can actually see some of what's happening inside the engine.

Randy showed me the exposed push rods that operate the valves, allowing air in and exhaust out.

That's what I love about these old machines.

You can LOOK at them and start understanding how they work.

But here's my favorite part.

This tractor isn't just polished up and sitting around looking pretty.

I asked Randy whether he could still put it to work on the farm today.

Turns out he already does.

He pulls a hay rake with it.

That's freaking awesome.

Nearly 60 years old.

Still working.

And then Randy cleans it up, brings it to the tractor show, and wins Best of Show.

Congratulations, Randy.

That's how you keep a piece of agricultural history alive.

1951 Ford 8N: The Indestructible Farming Workhorse 1951 Ford 8N: The Indestructible Farming Workhorse

This is probably one of the best tractors ever made.

A 1951 Ford 8N.

And this one brings back some memories for me.

My grandpa had two of these, and we had another one on our farm.

They just go and go and go.

They're not huge tractors and they're not built for the heaviest jobs.

But man, they're workhorses.

Pull a two-bottom plow.

Pull a disc.

Don't burn a ton of fuel.

And when something breaks?

You can actually work on it.

Replace it.

Rebuild it.

Fix it.

And keep going.

That's one of the things I love about old machinery like this.

It was built with the expectation that you'd maintain it instead of throwing the whole damn thing away.

More than 70 years later, here's one sitting in beautiful condition because somebody took care of it.

Grandpa understood the value of these tractors.

After seeing this one again, I understand why.

Built to work.

Built to be repaired.

Built to keep going.

Kind of crazy in a good way.

Powerful Oldschool Tractor Lots of torque here. Le Powerful Oldschool Tractor
Lots of torque here. Let's see what's going on. So, this is the first one I've been to in Tennessee. In Ohio, they're packed, but then again, most of the farms got kicked out of Clarksville, so I'm not sure what we're doing here, but that's it.

The Slowest Tractor Race I've seen tractor pulls. The Slowest Tractor Race

I've seen tractor pulls.

I've seen tractor races.

But this?

The goal is to go as SLOW as possible. 😂

Here are the rules:

1. You can't touch the throttle.

2. You can't use the brakes.

3. All you can do is steer.

4. If your tractor dies, it dies.

5. Last tractor to make it wins.

And the old Allis-Chalmers is absolutely killing it.

Or maybe barely moving it. 😂

I swear this thing looks like it's going about a quarter
mile an hour.

But watching it crawl along also tells you something
about these old tractors.

They weren't built for speed.

They were built to WORK.

Put that power into a plow or give it something heavy to
pull and you've got a completely different machine.

But today?

Slower is better.

And I think good old Allis-Chalmers has this one figured
out.

1920s Machinery: John Deere Hopper You can hear i 1920s Machinery: John Deere Hopper

You can hear it.

You can smell it.

And this old John Deere still runs.

I'm checking out what I'm told is an old John Deere Hopper with a two-cylinder engine, possibly from the 1920s or 1930s.

There's something incredibly cool about standing next to a piece of machinery this old while somebody fires it up.

It's not sitting behind glass.

It's not just a decoration.

It's running.

Modern equipment may have computers, electronics, sensors, and technology everywhere.

This?

Mechanical.

Heavy.

Simple.

Built to work.

I love finding old machinery like this because you're not just looking at an old machine.

You're looking at a piece of history that somebody cared enough about to keep alive.

And that sound?

You just don't get that from the new stuff.

Montgomery County Antique Tractor Show I'm walkin Montgomery County Antique Tractor Show

I'm walking through the antique tractor show here in Montgomery County, Tennessee, and they've got some seriously cool old machinery.

International Harvester.

Farmall.

McCormick-Deering.

Allis-Chalmers.

John Deere.

Oliver.

Deutz.

Massey Ferguson.

Ford.

And a few things I haven't seen in forever.

Then I found an old three-wheeler with the push-button starter.

That brought back a memory. 😂

Believe it or not, I drove one of these when I was about three years old.

I figured out how to start it and took off.

There were a bunch of people running after me while I was driving away laughing my ass off.

Apparently I've been causing trouble around machinery for a very long time. 😂

That's what makes walking around an antique tractor show so much fun.

You find machines you've driven.

Machines you remember.

Machines you've never seen before.

And tractors from manufacturers you didn't even know existed.

I found an old Leader from Auburn, Ohio.

A Deutz diesel.

Old row-crop tractors.

Cultivators.

High-clearance machines.

And some incredibly basic old tractors where you can look at the thing and practically see exactly how everything works.

These aren't just old tractors.

They're pieces of agricultural and mechanical history that people have cared enough about to preserve and keep running.

And apparently they're also proof that I probably shouldn't have been allowed anywhere near a starter button when I was three.

Pretty cool day in Montgomery County, Tennessee.

Bringing People Joy Through Bagpipes I'm in Clark Bringing People Joy Through Bagpipes

I'm in Clarksville, Tennessee, and suddenly I hear bagpipes.

So, of course, I had to go find out who was playing them. 😂

That's how I met Elijah Ritchie.

Elijah has been playing the bagpipes for about six years after someone at his church taught him.

And I loved his reason for being out there.

Sometimes he simply takes his practice outside because he wants to bring a little unexpected joy into people's lives.

How freaking cool is that?

Then I asked him to play something people might recognize.

It took me a second...

Star Wars. 😂

Elijah also plays professionally for weddings, funerals, graduations, company functions, and other events around Clarksville.

He's just getting his business going again after school and is working on rebuilding his online presence.

So we're going to help him out.

I even offered to give him a free website if he wants one.

Because when you meet somebody using their talent to make other people's day a little brighter, sometimes the best thing you can do is help them reach a few more people.

Great meeting you, Elijah.

Keep playing and keep bringing people joy.

The Best AI Is Not Yours. And I think that's goin The Best AI Is Not Yours.

And I think that's going to become a BIG problem for businesses.

I've been working with Ai for about five years, and here's something I want you to think about.

You're putting your business information into these systems.

Your sales.

Your marketing strategies.

Your financial forecasts.

Your customer information.

Your plans for the future.

But who controls the technology?

OpenAI?

Anthropic?

Google?

And what happens if one of those companies eventually decides to compete in your industry?

I've seen a version of this story before.

Amazon helped small businesses sell products.

Then it started offering competing products of its own.

Could the same thing happen with Ai?

I think it's a possibility businesses should take seriously.

And here's another concern.

I don't believe the public will necessarily have access to every advanced Ai capability these companies develop.

That's why I'm looking closely at OPEN-SOURCE Ai.

Private LLMs.

Locally hosted models.

Systems you can run on your own hardware.

Technology that gives you more control over your information.

Because here's what I believe:

If your business depends entirely on somebody else's technology, somebody else has a lot of influence over your future.

My prediction?

The next three to five years could completely change how businesses think about Ai ownership and privacy.

So let me ask you something.

Would you rather trust a major Ai company with your business information?

Or run your own private Ai?

#PrivateAI #OpenSourceAI #aiforbusiness
Adobe Is Toast. Yep. I'm calling it. I think Adob Adobe Is Toast.
Yep. I'm calling it.
I think Adobe's days as the big player in creative software are numbered.
Why? Open-source Ai.
I've been working with Ai for about five years, and what I've seen recently is incredible.
Tools that used to require expensive Adobe subscriptions now have open-source alternatives.
Some are free.
Some give you more control.
And some are producing results I actually prefer.
We don't use Adobe anymore.
Why would I keep paying thousands of dollars a year when I've found alternatives that work better for what we need?
And then there's Magento.
Adobe paid over $1.5 BILLION for it.
I recently looked at a Magento website, and from what I saw, the speed, accessibility, SEO, and AEO left a lot to be desired.
Here's what I think is happening.
Adobe's competitive advantage is shrinking.
Businesses are getting tired of expensive software subscriptions.
And Ai is giving them more options than ever.
I believe Adobe could face a serious decline over the next three to five years.
Could I be wrong about the timing?
Absolutely.
But I'm not betting on Adobe's long-term dominance.
That's my personal opinion, not financial advice.
Now I'm curious.
Are you still paying for Adobe?
Or have you already found something better?

Wet Teddy Bear Chair for $399 Okay, tell me if you Wet Teddy Bear Chair for $399
Okay, tell me if you don't think this is like the ugliest little chair. This reminds me of like the little girl that left her teddy bear out in the rain and the dog dragged it home and it's all dried out. This is what they made out of it.
So anyway, and not to be mean, but this is at Ashley Furniture. I don't know if they actually sell these things. I thought it was a joke at first, but it really is. So, that's it. What do you think? It does-- It's made for like a kid, but I think it's an adult thing. So, get a close-up of that. Ugh. Anyway, the teddy bear chair.
Plant Lovers Will Understand I went to Walmart be Plant Lovers Will Understand

I went to Walmart because I needed some potting soil.

Then I saw these poor little guys. 😂

A whole group of plants sitting outside in about 100-degree heat looking like nobody had watered them.

Come on, people.

The plants didn't hurt anybody.

Give them some water!

And if you're not going to take care of them, mark them down and let one of us plant people rescue them.

Plants can't exactly cry for help.

Although they actually are.

You just have to know how to listen to them.

That's the problem with being a plant person.

I went to Walmart for potting soil and somehow ended up emotionally invested in a bunch of plants that aren't even mine.

Plant lovers will understand. 😂

How To Get A 5-Star Review I ordered a double pepp How To Get A 5-Star Review
I ordered a double pepperoni, double cheese pizza from Jet's Pizza.
It came out without the double pepperoni or double cheese.
Mistakes happen.
What matters is what you do next.
They realized there was a problem and made me another pizza.
No excuses. No arguing. They just fixed it and took care of me.
So guess what?
I'm giving them a five-star review.
That's a lesson every business owner should understand:
You don't have to be perfect to earn five-star reviews.
When you screw something up:
1. Listen to the customer.
2. Own the mistake.
3. Fix the problem.
4. Take care of the customer.
5. Give them a reason to come back.
Sometimes how you recover from a mistake tells me more about your business than getting everything right the first time.
That's how you turn a screwed-up pizza into a five-star review.

Where does your restaurant food actually come from Where does your restaurant food actually come from?

One company you're going to run into over and over again is Sysco.

When I recorded this video, I guessed they might supply 80% or 90% of the restaurant food in America.

Eating at a different restaurant doesn't necessarily mean you're eating from a completely different supply chain.

That's why I pay attention to where my food comes from, what's actually in it, and how it was produced.

Ask questions.

Find restaurants that care about sourcing.

Know what the heck you're putting into your body.

Be careful out there, folks.

5 Things You Need To Be Successful I'm sitting in 5 Things You Need To Be Successful

I'm sitting in Nashville, it's about 100 degrees in the shade, I've got a cigar, and apparently I needed to get a few things off my chest. 😂

Here's the big realization:

Your not-to-do list may be just as important as your to-do list.

Everybody is looking for some complicated secret to becoming successful.

I think a lot of it comes down to five things:

1. Take Care of Your Body

Get your sleep handled. Pay attention to what you're eating. Take care of yourself physically so you have the energy and mental clarity to actually compete.

2. Pay Attention to Who You Hang Around

Surround yourself with people who are going somewhere. People who are learning, building, improving, and challenging you to level up.

Don't try to be the smartest person in every room. If you are, either start teaching or find another room.

3. Keep Learning and Teaching

Never stop learning.

And when you learn something useful, teach it.

Teaching forces you to organize what you know well enough that somebody else can understand it. I've learned an incredible amount simply by teaching other people.

4. Use What Works

I'm heavily involved in AI and digital marketing, but I haven't forgotten that the old stuff still works.

Talk to people. Listen. Network. Hand somebody a business card. Use QR codes. Send postcards. Build relationships.

Use AI and new technology, but don't throw away something simply because it isn't new.

5. Serve More People

This may be the most important one.

Figure out how to genuinely help more people.

I've helped people without knowing whether I'd ever make a dime from it. Sometimes they eventually become great clients. Sometimes they don't.

That's not the point.

If you genuinely become useful to enough people, you're creating value.

And value creates opportunity.

When I'm buying seafood, I'm looking for one thing When I'm buying seafood, I'm looking for one thing right off the bat:

Wild-caught.

I'm especially picky when it comes to salmon and shrimp.

Farm-raised doesn't automatically mean a seafood product is unsafe, but I want to know where my food came from, what it was fed, and how it was raised.

Here's something a lot of people don't realize:

Farmed salmon may have astaxanthin added to its feed to give the flesh that familiar reddish-orange color. Wild salmon gets astaxanthin naturally from what it eats.

There are even genetically engineered Atlantic salmon approved for food in the United States. Current regulations require applicable products to carry a bioengineered-food disclosure.

For me, this isn't complicated.

I prefer wild-caught whenever I can get it.

Read the package. Look at the country of origin. Find out whether it's wild or farm-raised. Learn how your food was produced.

Then make your own decision.

I'm sticking with wild-caught.
